AMC+ requested a series of alternative Key Art concepts for one of its original shows, challenging the creative team to explore fresh visual narratives that could reinterpret the series while remaining emotionally compelling.
As the Senior Visual Designer, I was responsible for concept development, visual storytelling, and the creation of four original Key Art explorations.
-
With limited visual assets available, the objective was to create distinctive concepts that could communicate the tone of the series through symbolism, composition, and atmosphere rather than relying solely on existing promotional imagery.
Each concept needed to present a unique creative perspective while maintaining a strong emotional impact and cinematic quality.
-
The project began with concept exploration, developing four independent visual directions before refining the strongest ideas into polished Key Art proposals.
One of the concepts, The Beauty of Death, explored the contrast between mortality and beauty through symbolic imagery. Flowers became the central visual element, representing both the fragility of life and the romanticism often associated with remembrance, while dark tones suggested the mystery and permanence of the eternal night.
To achieve this atmosphere, I created custom photomontages by researching, sourcing, and compositing every visual element—from botanical references and paper textures to lighting effects and shadows. Every component was carefully integrated to create a cinematic composition that supported the emotional narrative of the concept.
